ASIAN PERSUASIAN, an Asian American vocal harmony group based in Southern California, performs favorite songs from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, including doo-wop, Motown, and pop. Kenny Itagaki (Inouye’s older brother), Gary Asamura and Dave Suga started the group over 40 years ago with Inouye and Jeff Louie joining later. They invited their audiences to relive the “oldies but goodies” of their youth. Helen Ota and Marlene Yamane-Chau joined later as leads! Just want to honor by mentioning that Mr. Suga and Sharlene Inouye passed, who was in the original singing group with Gary and Kenny.
In recent years, Asian Persuasion has appeared at such events as Keiro no Hi, Boogie at the Bonenkai, Higashi Honganji Obon Festival, Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival, Gardena Valley JCI Matsuri, and Big Budokan Bash. We thank this fun and talented harmony band for making time for us as their first guest appearance to our show🙏🙏🥰.
Please like and share this particular episode because we need to enjoy and appreciate pioneers of our unified cultures in art, music and creativity in every form. Thanks to Jaimee Itagaki @jaimee_i for intro me to this endearing band, to Venerable Injury Law and Mike Azagra, team @ogyolkpodcast @ogyolkmagazine editor @campbellmoon_ @sommertimecasting
