VERDI CHORUS: Opera For The Masses in Santa Monica 4/26-27 at 1st Presbyterian Church
We have our 41st episode. Welcome, our Opera Singers The Verdi Chorus concert this April 26-27!**note: I meant 5th amendment. . . and we had to rush this interview for the space time restrictions, apologies for the urgency! Renowned Filipino baritone ROBERTO PERLAS GOMEZ, is one of the featured guest Soloists this Spring for the Verdi Chorus. He made his international debut as Marcello in La bohème with the Shanghai Opera. And the other Soloists: – ALEXANDRA BASS, Mezzo-soprano, earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music and part Asian! Soprano TIFFANY HO, Vietnamese singer and acts in her own solos and leads the soprano section at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles; “Concerts for Hope,” a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting hearts, through music, for incarcerated individuals, those battling drug and alcohol addiction in rehab centers or facing homelessness in shelters, and other spaces. We also have SARAH WANG, alto Singer, and finally Anne Marie Ketchum- originally a Singer herself and Conductor, the Founding Artistic Director of The Verdi Chorus, was also the Artistic Consultant for The Camp in Santa Monica for the 42nd year. One of the key missions of the Verdi Chorus is to bring first rate opera to the Los Angeles community at the lowest prices possible – and in the intimate and acoustically perfect sanctuary of Santa Monica's First Presbyterian Church, audiences can do exactly that on April 26 and 27, with the Verdi Chorus Spring Concert "Bella Bellini". Led by Anne Marie, the VERDI CHORUS is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus! This program, in the words of Ms. Ketchum, highlights "one of the most beloved composers of the Bel Canto period," and will feature selections from three of Bellini's most beloved operas – La Sonnambula, Norma, I Puritani and Verdi's La Forza del Destino. Thank you to Anne Marie, Roberto, Alexandra, Sarah and Tiffany for being on our pod! Gratitude to @OGYOLKMagazine, Davidson & Choy Publicity, Campbell Moon Jung for editing this so fast @campbellmoon_ , team OG YOLK, Larry Tazuma, 1st Presbyterian Church for letting us record there and @sommertimecasting!
